7 Amazing Day Trips from Antibes

Antibes is perfectly positioned on the French Riviera, making it an ideal base for exploring the entire coast. Here are seven unforgettable day trips you can take during your stay.

1. Nice (25 minutes by train)

The capital of the Riviera is a must-visit. Stroll along the Promenade des Anglais, explore the colorful Old Town (Vieux Nice), visit the Matisse or Chagall museums, and take the elevator up to Castle Hill for panoramic views. Trains run every 15 minutes from Antibes station.

2. Cannes (15 minutes by train)

Famous for its film festival, Cannes offers glamorous shopping on La Croisette, beautiful sandy beaches, and the charming old quarter of Le Suquet. Visit the Marche Forville for a more local experience.

3. Monaco and Monte Carlo (45 minutes by train)

Visit the world's second-smallest country in a day. See the Prince's Palace, the Oceanographic Museum, the exotic gardens, and of course the famous Casino de Monte-Carlo. The train ride along the coast is spectacular.

4. Saint-Paul-de-Vence (30 minutes by bus)

This medieval hilltop village is one of the most picturesque in Provence. Wander through art galleries, visit the Fondation Maeght, and enjoy lunch with valley views. Take bus 400 from Antibes.

5. Iles de Lerins (15 minutes by ferry)

Take a boat from Antibes port to these two peaceful islands. Ile Sainte-Marguerite has forest trails and the fortress where the Man in the Iron Mask was imprisoned. Ile Saint-Honorat has an active monastery producing wine and liqueur.

6. Grasse (40 minutes by bus)

The world capital of perfume is a fascinating day out. Visit the Fragonard, Galimard, or Molinard perfumeries for free tours and create your own scent. The old town has some excellent restaurants too.

7. Cap d'Antibes Coastal Walk (starts on your doorstep)

Not technically a day trip, but the Sentier du Littoral around Cap d'Antibes is one of the best walks on the Riviera. The 5km path hugs the rocky coastline past millionaire villas, hidden swimming spots, and the beautiful Jardin Thuret.
